On October 8, 2024, the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF) launched the Fifth Call for Proposals under its Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) Facility at the 2024 RedLAC Congress in Saint Lucia. This call is for projects that utilize EbA approaches to assist in climate change adaptation efforts within the marine and coastal zones of the insular Caribbean. Medium grants between USD 400,000 and USD 1 million and large grants between USD 1 million and USD 3 million are available under this call for proposals.

To date, the EbA Facility has issued four Calls for Proposals and awarded 34 grants in 11 countries across the region. This Fifth Call for Proposals offers up to USD 15.5 million dollars in grants to be awarded for a further six to ten EbA projects. Submission deadline was 17 Dec 2024. Concept notes are currently under evaluation.

The EbA Facility’s resources are composed of a 55 million Euro contribution from the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection through KfW, the German Development Bank.
