Save The Blue Five participated in two outstanding events during COP16. The first, called Regional Projects in the Eastern Tropical and Southeast Pacific and their Contribution to the Global Biodiversity Framework Targets, was led by the Colombian Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development. Jan Kleine, project director, presented the objectives of this initiative, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the network of marine protected areas to ensure that migratory species can follow their routes safely.

The second event led by the Permanent Commission for the South Pacific - CPPS: Eastern Pacific Connectivity: Key to Global Conservation, brought together experts to discuss the importance of ecological connectivity and the blue economy.

CPPS, the German Cooperation GIZ, Conservation International and MarViva Foundation participated as part of the consortium implementing the Save The Blue Five project, involving each attendee through an immersive virtual reality experience, raising awareness about the conservation of the 'blue five' and supporting the protection of their migratory routes.

This event strengthened collaboration between countries, communities and organizations, promoting a collective approach towards a sustainable future for marine biodiversity.
