During the event, held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Energy and Mines of the Dominican Republic (MEMRD), a discussion was held with speakers Desiré Del Rosario, general coordinator of the Center for Gender Studies at INTEC University; Yomaira Martinó, founder of the company GreEnergy Dominicana, and Paola Pimentel, president of Women of Renewable Energy in the Dominican Republic. The discussion, held in commemoration of International Women's Day, highlighted concepts of gender equity and emphasized the need to encourage and promote the development of policies to reduce these gaps and increase the participation of women in the institutions of the energy sector.

The event was attended by Minister Antonio Almonte, Deputy Ministers Alfonso Rodríguez, of Energy Savings and Efficiency; Walkiria Caamaño, of Hydrocarbons; and Fausto Pérez, of Energy Security and Infrastructure, as well as the directors of International Relations, Gustavo Mejía-Ricart; Legal, Matilde Balcácer and Finance, Arsenio Diloné, among other personalities.

Minister Almonte emphasized that "just as the energy transition is in process, the cultural transition must take place so that men no longer see women as an object of which they can dispose of, even of their lives in many occasions".

The activity, organized by the Gender Equity Unit, as part of the Planning Directorate, with the support of the Energy Transition project of the German Development Cooperation GIZ, provided guidance on the importance of each woman in the positions they hold who were encouraged to continue to excel in the actions they decide to undertake.

At the end of the commemorative event, women collaborators from the different departments of the MEMRD were recognized for their passion, dedication, integrity, and tireless work that elevate the quality of the Ministry's service.
