A Dominican and Cuban delegation made up of 16 representatives of MEMRD, CNE, SIE, ETED, ASOFER, ADIE, INTEC, OC-SENI, EDESUR, EDEESTE, EDENORTE, GELECT and GIZ raveled to Munich (Germany) between June 11 and 17 to attend the Smarter E Europe 2023 event. This delegation was led by Milton Morrison, General Manager of EDESUR; Andrés Portes, former General Manager of EDEESTE; and Manuel López San Pablo, General Manager of OC-SENI.
This platform for the energy industry included conferences, side events and four exhibitions (Intersolar Europe, ees Europe, Power2Drive Europe and EM-Power Europe) focused on renewable energies, decentralization and the digitalization of the energy industry, as well as technological trends in the photovoltaic industry and energy storage, and the latest technologies for electric vehicle charging.
The agenda focused on issues of interest to the electricity sector in the Dominican Republic and Cuba, and was coordinated by the Energy Transition Project and experts from the Renewables Academy (RENAC).
On the first day, the delegation participated in conferences related to the development of renewable projects, technologies in photovoltaic systems, energy storage and electrical flexibility, highlighting the trend of integrating more and more power electronics technologies to increase the stability of the electricity system, and also, trends in electric mobility with respect to bi-directional chargers and pricing.
In the following days, they participated in the Smarter E Europe exhibitions, having several meetings with manufacturers of solar panels, batteries, inverters, electric vehicle chargers, research institutes and hydrogen solutions, in which they showed the technological trends of interest to the Dominican electricity sector, delving into the characteristics of large-scale storage solutions to achieve greater penetration of renewable energy.
Also, the agenda included a guided tour on energy storage offered by Solar Promotion GmbH and organized by RENAC, as well as side events related to the market for renewable projects in Latin America and the Women Energize Women campaign.
