With his venture, Hydro-Cloud Systems, Miguel Piedra promotes the production of crops using the hydroponics technique in a 100% controlled environment by reusing containers.

"With this technique, we manage to optimize water resources up to 80% compared to traditional crops. In addition, we do not generate impacts on the soil because we do not apply pesticides and we make better use of the containers that have completed their shelf life," stated Piedra.

As part of his prize, he will receive technical advisory services in order to strengthen his business idea.

The regional competition is organized by YoEmprendedor and seeks Central American startups in order to carry out training, mentoring, networking, and challenges over the course of three months. In 2021, the Climate Innovation category was launched for the first time and since then, GIZ together with Deloitte, provides technical support throughout the process.
