Instruments and incentives to promote SME participation in sustainable public procurement: A compilation of global practices
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the foundation of most economies. Promoting their participation in public procurement is a means to strengthen their economic stability and operational success, however, being a complex process involving several steps at the administrative level, SMEs often face difficulties in participating in public procurement. In response to the above background and challenges, this document presents a non-exhaustive compilation of various instruments and incentives aimed at promoting greater SME participation in sustainable public procurement. These practices are supported by examples that are intended to contribute to generating ideas for boosting SME participation in sustainable public procurement.
