The BioFinCas project, led by Oro Verde, provides innovative strategies aimed at reforming current agricultural practices towards methods that are biodiversity-friendly and climate-resilient, offering better protection to producing communities through accessible financing solutions.

The project is leading an agricultural transformation of the coffee, cocoa, and banana value chains in the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Mexico. It involves small producers, agricultural cooperatives, intermediaries, wholesalers, processing companies, and consumers in Europe.

After a first, successful meeting of the entire BioFinCas team in Guatemala, the first important steps have already been taken in all areas of the project (biodiversity, financial solutions, value chains) in order to achieve the project's major goal by 2031: Large-scale biodiversity-friendly cultivation of bananas, cocoa and coffee that generates a fair income for producers and fairly distributes the risks along the value chain.
