Youth for Climate Action in El Salvador (YES)

In El Salvador, the energy and agricultural sectors are the largest emitters. Mitigation plans focus on these sectors, but young people lack opportunities and capacities to participate as agents of change. The project strengthens capacities, networks and voices of young people and youth and indigenous organisations. Focusing on women, young people pilot scalable green technologies such as chemical-free farming approaches, electric tricycles, solar dryers, bio-digesters and efficient stoves for energy efficiency. They will share the model projects with representatives of the private sector, financing institutions, and decision-makers as scalable practices. The project contributes to the dissemination of innovative technologies towards a net-zero economy, but also gives young people a professional perspective. Exchange among civil society in El Salvador, Central America, and Germany and participation in international conferences disseminate model projects and foster exchange.
