Strengthening capacities in stingless bee management 

Stakeholders in Tobago are trained in macrophotography and bat pollination

In mid-April 2023, the BES-Net team in Trinidad and Tobago (TT) carried out the workshop series on pollinator management to stakeholders in Tobago, after having run the workshops in Trinidad in 2022. On April 13th, participants benefitted from training in macrophotography led by Dr. Floyd Homer as well as an introduction to bat pollination led by Mr. Darshan Narang. On April 14th, the all-day workshop focused on stingless bee management.

These workshops were attended by several members of staff of the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Natural Resources and Forestry and were supported by the Secretary of the Division of Food Security, Natural Resources, the Environment and Sustainable Development. There was keen interest in the content of the workshop on stingless bee management, and several questions were posed by participants which also included experienced and fledgling honeybee beekeepers. Twenty people benefitted from these workshops.
