Since its inception in July 2020, the MRV Hub Summer Academy training program has maintained a virtual format to accommodate the challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic; while still empowering MRV Hub Member country staff in the greenhouse gas inventory field. In this third year of the Academy the virtual training was supplemented by a second component in the form of an in-person one-week Capstone Program.
Virtual Training
The 3rd Annual MRV Hub Summer Academy, 7-week online training took place on September 2022. Each of the 12 MRV Hub member countries were invited to nominate two participants to attend the virtual training program tailored to build the GHG accounting capacity of entry-level personnel attached to relevant ministries with responsibility for environment & climate. This year’s cohort included over 25 experts from MRV Hub member countries and organizational partners.
In-person Capstone Program
The 2022 Capstone Program took place in Grenada on October and welcomed 11 delegates, in person, from MRV Hub Member countries. The theme for Capstone 2022 was COOPERATION, with outcomes from this year’s Capstone Program including the mapping of institutional arrangements, preliminary emission estimates for the forestry sector, & mapping of carbon sequestration pathways for turtle seagrass. Lectures were supplemented by individual country-specific project work, group exercises, field trips & 1-on-1 sessions with facilitators. All participants successfully completed the program and received certificates. > More information
