Ecosystem-based Adaptation Course already leaving its mark in Costa Rica
22 young people between 9 and 16 years of age were trained. The initiative is part of the Scaling Up Ecosystem-based Adaptation Measures in Rural Latin America (EbA LAC) program and aims to train key actors to support the replication of EbA measures in their communities and areas of work.

22 young people between 9 and 16 years of age were trained in Ecosystem-based Adaptation in the Barra de Tortuguero area of Costa Rica. During six modules the students learned about ecosystem-based measures, climate change, climate justice, governance, assertive communication, teamwork and soft skills.
This same course will be held in Guatemala and Ecuador and seeks to strengthen the technical and functional capacities of people who can work as multipliers in their organizational, community or institutional role to promote actions against climate change with an EbA (Ecosystem-based Adaptation) approach, in order to reach more communities that implement these alternatives.
The training is part of the activities of the EbA LAC program, funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), through its International Climate Initiative (IKI) and implemented by the German Cooperation -GIZ- in partnership with IUCN and CATIE.
