“Creating water champions by reinforcing the need to be conservers of water and not wasters!” This was the focus of external engagements conducted during July 2022. The target audience - children ages 6 to 15 years old participating in summer programs or camps whose focus was on the environment.

Quizzes, informational videos, giveaways of project merchandise together with a presentation on the Climate-Resilient Water Sector in Grenada (G-CREWS) project made sessions enlightening, fun, and educational. All children including those from special education schools received information.

Using nicely created water droplets, the children were asked to either draw actions or write down activities they will continually practice at their homes. It is envisioned the activity of reinforcement will be adopted as daily reminders in the bid to being water champions. Water efficiency tips of AVOID, REDUCE, REUSE, and RECYCLE were also examined with a call for the children to pass on to their friends and family.

Children are one of the messengers of water conservation and it is only fitting that opportunities like these are capitalized upon. The G-CREWS team was also joined by its partner from National Water and Sewerage Authority who shared on the water treatment plants on the island.
