After completing the first EbA diagnostic studies including vulnerability analyses, the 7 CCR partner organizations are set to develop and implement strategic EbA plans during 2023. The focus is on adaptation to climate change at municipal level and implementation of EbA measures that make smallholder livelihoods more resilient. Appropriate land use techniques and forest restoration will also impact positively on biodiversity and ecosystem connectivity along the Biological Corridor in the Caribbean (CBC). About 450,000 seedlings have been distributed in Haiti and Dominican Republic last year and were planted in agroforestry systems and wood lots on erosion prone slopes, and more climate adaptation action is to be delivered throughout the coming years.

Further highlights in 2022 include presenting the project during the CBC's annual technical and ministerial meeting and making several recommendations that were taken up by the committees; the first in-person annual partner meeting; scientific findings of the Rapid Biodiversity Inventory and climate risk assessment by CBC and the Eastern Center for Ecosystems and Biodiversity (BIOECO) and the participation at UNFCCC COP-27 in Egypt in November.
