Exhibition booths, school visits, television and radio engagements were among the mediums used to remind citizens of the need to cherish this indispensable resource – water.
For the months of March and April, the Climate-Resilient Water Sector in Grenada (G-CREWS) project conversed with citizens from about every part of the island.
At a booth on International Women’s Day March 8th, the project spotlighted women in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and welcomed close to 200 people. A week later, the team attended a community town hall meeting where citizens were presented with the project and received information from the project booth.

The involvement of children as water ambassadors to spread the message of good water saving practices was highlighted on 22nd March – World Water Day. The project visited one of the schools often affected by valve regulation due to inconsistent water supply in the dry season (January – June). The active exchange was a learning session for both the project and the children. The message left was: Small actions accelerate behavior change in water usage.
The project was invited by civil society groups to engage with farmers, educators, and community residents in two key parishes on the island. Radio and television exchanges were intertwined with the face-to-face sessions. Followers of the project’s social media pages were challenged to develop slogans which embodied the work of the G-CREWS Project.
Achieving climate resilient water users starts with educating and raising awareness which will ultimately lead to the improvement of water saving practices.
